Dear Heritage Hill Community,
We've officially sunset the Heritage Hill Co-op. I want to thank you for being part of this incredible journey. We still have some heavily discounted inventory available, perfect for Black History Month. Remaining stock is listed on our website for immediate shipping.
Reflection: Honoring Our Roots
Heritage Hill was born from a sacred intention: to build an enterprise that honored our ancestors, rejected exploitation, and embodied the liberating power of cooperative economics. Guided by the principle of Ujamaa (collective work and responsibility), the scholarship of W.E.B. Du Bois, and Dr. Jessica Gordon Nembhard’s visionary work on Black cooperatives, we set out to prove that business could be both ethical and impactful.
Our journey is captured in the comprehensive document, “Heritage Hill: A Case Study in Cooperative Supply Chain Management (2019-2023).” This detailed case study offers operational, financial, and strategic insights into building and scaling a cooperative business.
Highlights include:
- Capital deployment and financial metrics
- Supply chain integration opportunities
- Cooperative business model learnings
- Market and community impact
- Strategic insights into community-driven cooperatives
What's Next?
Hi, I’m Brandon Z. Hoff, and I founded The Heritage Hill. This journey has been an incredible learning experience for me.
I dreamed of building a network where Black designers, manufacturers, and educators could thrive together. And though this chapter is coming to a close, we’ve laid meaningful groundwork for more innovative solutions within our community.
For the past two years, I’ve been working in the technology sector, specifically in artificial intelligence, researching generative AI and its impact on the way we live, learn, and work. Now, more than ever, I believe there’s immense opportunity to find intersections between technology, economics, education, and collective work.
“Collective work are not just economic tools—they are acts of resistance, resilience, and radical hope.”
— Dr. Jessica Gordon Nembhard
